"I'm too smooth to be embarrassed."
Christine Davis is a trained New York based actress, writer, teaching artist and new business owner. She is a Harlem native, and a first generation American born to Jamaican immigrants. Christine’s ability to light up a room and her infectious personality are just a few qualities that make her unique. She has a deep passion for telling stories, making characters come to life and creating content for people to enjoy.
She has appeared in several independent films, television shows, and theatre productions. Christine's most recent credits include the hit network television show “New Amsterdam” on (NBC) and a speaking role in season 10 of “Blue Bloods” on (CBS.) She also wrapped principal photography on an independent project, “Fade” which she can’t wait for people to see. She most recently worked on “The Last O.G.” with fellow DWCHS alumnus, Tracy Morgan. She currently has a handful of projects in the works.
Before Christine took her talents to the big screen, she worked as a full-time middle school teacher in the Bronx for two years. While teaching, she made the impossible possible. She attended her graduate courses at the City College of New York in the evening, worked as a freelance producer for the New York Knicks and Rangers for MSG Networks, coached an award-winning step team, and still found time to invest in acting classes to further develop her craft. Soon after, she was faced with the challenge of finding the strength to close the chapter on teaching full-time. After she received her masters degree, she confidently made the steps towards pursuing an acting career. In 2017, Christine was out of work for 6 months but relied on her faith to keep going. She then landed a substitute teaching position to help her stay afloat while in pursuit of her acting dreams. She was determined that nothing was going to stop her. In 2019, she started to see the fruits from her labor as she landed role after role and successfully landed talent representation.
In March 2020, Christine started working on her own original comedy series and the process pushed her to start her own production company, which morphed into something bigger. In July 2020, she opened up her production company and multi-purpose studio, Reel Gems Entertainment located in Harlem. She worked tirelessly and put everything in motion all while facing the challenges of surviving a global pandemic. Christine started her company because she realized the great need for creatives like herself. To find the services offered by her company, you would usually have to travel far downtown or even to Brooklyn. She felt it was important to have a resource such as Reel Gems that is easily accessible to people of color. She put her passion into full-drive and now Reel Gems offers service for actors and actresses and all other creatives. The services include self-tapes, demo reels, photo/video rental space, meeting space, podcasts, video content creation and more.
Christine has a couple of interns, who were 2020 MSG Classroom participants. Christine herself, was a MSG Classroom participant 11 years ago and thought it was important to give back and give opportunities to young people. It was an internship opportunity at MSG Networks that jump-started her career and led her to where she is today.
Christine is still auditioning, working on projects, writing films, running her business and inspiring others all at the same time. She is super passionate about giving back and helping others. She is a force to be reckoned with and cannot wait to show the world what she can do. She is 29 years old and still resides in Harlem.
Her favorite quote is "I'm too smooth to be embarrassed." She lives by it.
